Plants with a short flowering time of 8 weeks or less need higher amounts of instantly available potassium, in the early stages, to produce more and heavier fruits and flowers in a shorter period of time.
Large amounts of potassium are required, and it is important for the metabolism of plants. It controls the intake of CO2, is necessary for the generation of the energy source for photosynthesis, and aids in controlling the uptake of nutrients and water. Lack of potassium causes the plant to grow more slowly, circulate less water, develop fruits unevenly, and is more vulnerable to environmental stress.
